Nach unten treten wie Super Mario – Offener Brief eines Geflüchteten an Sicherheitsdirektor Fehr

Anm. d.

Hello Mr. Fehr.

Do you know the video game called «Super Mario»? The player destroys everything in his way and crashes with his feet all those who lie on the ground. In reality you know who is on the ground. It’s the weakest in society. The refugees. How about you find yourself a different hobby?

This is a letter from a migrant who you tried to detain in a bunker and to arrest repeatedly in the streets of Zurich. A migrant who tried to find his way of life and freedom of thought – things that don’t exist in my country – by asking for asylum but who ended up with a negative decision from the Staatssekretariat für Migration. A person without papers, without a right to stay in Switzerland and without the freedom of movement.

Your «Eingrenzung» is meant to force refugees to live in bunkers and camps in a strictly defined zone, until we leave this country voluntarily or until we get violently deported back to our countries ruled by dictatorships. Weather here or there, prison is our destination. Also thanks to you. As you try to oppress us with a new system, forcing us to sign twice every days or else we don’t get food or money (totally 8 francs a day) and loose our accommodation. Your message is clear: We either obey this repressive system or we will starve and get even more troubles.

Others call you «Super Mario» for different reasons. We just see that you are super eager and super ruthless in persecuting and redlining people, trying to reach the highest score in racist rules and isolating conditions for several hundreds of refugees in Kanton Zürich. At the same time we know you as a member of the Social Democrat party, officially part of the Socialist International and theoretically committed to solidarity with international working people. People that you set under work prohibition here. While your party demands a collective regularisation for people that are here for long time. But some of them are detained by you, having passed over 10 years in your bunker system and today are ill, both physically and mentally. And they continue to suffer under your oppression.

Your goal is to make our life hell and to deport us if we attempt to stay here longer. It seems your job is to destroy dreams of refugees as free human beings and to treat them like slaves. Confined in bunkers for years, with no papers, no work, no right to free movement, no freedom at all. How can one live under such racist and extremely repressive rules? What’s going on in your head when you enact these rules? Believe me, every time I see your face in the news, I imagine how much energy you spend in inventing new methods to harass migrants more efficiently. You always try out something new to make us leave the country, supported by your armed forces that hunt us down in the streets. Your problem is: It never worked. People are staying despite your efforts.

You and I, we know that these people are victims. Imagine: Migrants who lost everything but a little hope to stay and to live with others with an equal level of respect and dignity. Why else would people risk their lives by crossing the entire mediterranean sea? Sorry, I did not travel to end up in fucking bunkers. But because I had enough torture and dictatorship in my country, where sexism, racist laws, discrimination and corruption are a daily reality, your bunkers cannot make me go back there. You think your violence will crush us? Fuck you.

You have created this prison for us in Switzerland with your Eingrenzung and penalties every time when we defy your rules. And that’s on top of the Dublin process with its fingerprints rules?

In the past I used to pray that god would stop people like you, Mr. Fehr. But there was no response. From that moment on I made a decision to not depend on religion anymore and finally I became an atheist. My god is my freedom. And we are free to speak up against you and your policy. People will find out what is going on in the camps and bunkers.

Our journey is not over yet.
We will fight!

Bild: ajour.
